Just tired of being Mom

I think I go through this “feeling” a lot, as a mother. As you know, I spend a lot of time with my kids, but there are days when I just can’t stand them. I’m not going to be diplomatic here – it’s my safe space and if you want to use my words against me, ever! God be with you! Continue reading “Just tired of being Mom”

Faith vs Fear – how do I even?

Ok, so I’m still slightly freaked out by all of the snatching, kidnapping, school letters and all round bad news about child abductions. Like I wrote about child safety we need to do our best to educate ourselves, and our kids, about being safe. But, can we really live our lives like this? constantly looking over our shoulders, one eye open and feel anxious? To this – I shout out, “NO!! No more!” Continue reading “Faith vs Fear – how do I even?”

Keeping my kids safe – 12 tips I use

I read a post the other day by Luchae on “My Spreadsheet Brain” about keeping our kids safe. I’ve been following her for a while, but this particular post really jumped out at me because it’s something I truly value as a mother and parent. Go and have a read about what she thought with regards to trafficking and stuff. Now, for those of you who know me personally – you know that my one fear that I’ve had to overcome is losing my kids to being trafficked or kidnapped.

Just because I homeschool – doesn’t make me “brave”

Today I’m having one of those mornings where it’s just extremely frustrating to be teaching my kids. So, as I am losing my mind and giving very loud, firm instructions to my one child – and all I can think of is the phrase I get from soooooooooo many parents when they hear that we homeschool, “you’re so brave, I don’t have the patience to do that”. Said with a tilt of the head and admiration across their faces…….. #facepalm Continue reading “Just because I homeschool – doesn’t make me “brave””

Disciplining my kids is not fun!

As I reread the title of my post, back to myself – I sigh every time. It’s the absolute, complete, truth! I remember setting out on this parenting journey and wanting to set up our disciplining early so that it would be easier for us later…….. well that was a complete joke! Now, understand upfront, that this post isn’t a complaining one – I’m super proud of us, and our kids are amazing, but I don’t want the illusion bubble of “they’re amazing” to cloud the fact that it has been a continuous journey of slogging it out up until now. My 10 year old just told me off……..

So it’s been a few weeks of running around and burying myself in getting our routine right again. Let’s just say that it’s not going well, but we are afloat and at least I know my kids are learning something every day. Anyway, let’s get to my title……… yes, this happened…… my 10 year literally served me metaphorical medicine and made me drink a massive lesson. Continue reading “My 10 year old just told me off……..”

It’s ok to fail, right?

It’s amazing that when you put a goal out into the web-is-sphere – that it becomes extremely hard to actually abide by it. I tried to think that it would be possible to write something down everyday and post it onto the internet. I mean, come on! Really? What was I actually thinking? I am NOT that organized and disciplined. I like to “think” I am, but let’s be real – I’m not. Continue reading “It’s ok to fail, right?”
