Who is Tim and what’s a Ministry Entrepreneur?

Now that the week is starting to warm up, I reckon it’s time to look at what Tim actually does – what is a ministry entrepreneur anyway? Firstly, I made the term up to best describe my husband 😁 Many of you might not know, but Tim and I used to be pastors at a fairly large church in Cape Town and made the decision to leave “full time” church ministry in 2013 and do what we knew God was telling us to do-which was to start up a ministry called ‘Sounds of the Nations Cape Town’. We took the jump off into the deep end of no salary and completely ride on the seat of our “trust God” pants and started up a music studio from home that would ultimately fund what Tim does now.

If that all sounds rather complicated then look at it this way – Tims main heart and goal is to help and see churches, and local people, identify their unique sound, learn how to put it down and sing it in their own churches and communities. Some have desires to record them, others don’t – but he helps to educate leaders on the technicalities of copywriting their work and giving them an environment to record it without breaking the bank. There are other aspects to what he does, but this was the main aim and it’s growing daily as the opportunities arise.

Anyway, as you can imagine, trying to do this with three little people being schooled at home is interesting – but we make it work and I know Tim is grateful for Always On – which he’ll escape our noisy bunch to go and administrate in the solitude of a peaceful coffee shop.

For the past year and a half, Tim has been working at commercial studios. As of January this year, he’s back home and it’s wonderful to have him back. He’s focusing more on the ministry side again, after the break last year doing more technical jobs. I honestly love our lifestyle and just being partnered with a guy that’s driven and always going for what he knows Gods wanting him to do. It gives a security blanket to our home that I can’t really explain. Now don’t get me wrong, we are not living in a fairytale kingdom – stuff gets real for us everyday and I think when you work as a team, it’s not as tough as it could be. Now who am I in all of this? Well, let’s leave that thought fo Wednesday, shall we 😉
